This club was built from a simple place:
A love for photography, and a desire to share it.
Our Mission:
Leelanau Photography Club exists to create opportunities that bring people together to make images with purpose.
What Makes Us Different
- We’re Purpose-Driven → Our projects are built around real stories, not abstract assignments. We contribute to historical archives and local institutions.
- We’re Grounded in Place → Leelanau is more than a backdrop—it’s our subject, our classroom, and our community.
- We’re Built for All Skill Levels → Whether you’ve never touched a camera or you’ve been shooting for 30 years, you belong here.
- We Value Peer Learning → You don’t need to be a teacher to share what you know. Everyone has something to offer.
Our Long-Term Vision
LPC isn’t just a club — it’s a living archive.
Our goal is to preserve Leelanau’s people, places, and daily life through visual documentation. We aim to make this work accessible, educational, and enduring.
That means:
- Contributing images and stories to the Leelanau Historical Society Archives
- Offering free photography workshops to help members grow their skills and contribute meaningfully to LPC’s visual record
- Partnering with local libraries to make cameras, editing tools, and workspaces accessible to the public
- Hosting public exhibitions that reflect the region’s life and landscape
- Publishing photo essays that elevate local voices and stories
- Supporting organizations and individuals who want to preserve local stories
